The BMW M4 F82 is the coupé variant of the high-performance M3/M4 lineup, produced from 2014 to 2020 as the successor to the E92 M3 Coupé. Built on the F32 4 Series platform and developed by BMW M GmbH, the F82 marked a major departure from its predecessor by replacing the naturally aspirated V8 with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six (S55 engine).
In standard form, the S55 produced 431 PS (425 hp) and 550 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) sprint in as little as 4.1 seconds when equipped with the 7-speed M DCT dual-clutch transmission (a 6-speed manual was also available). A Competition Package was made available in 2016 and later special editions like the M4 CS (460 PS), and M4 GTS (500 PS) offered progressively sharper performance and exclusivity.
The F82 featured extensive use of carbon fiber including the roof, driveshaft, and various body components to reduce weight and lower the center of gravity. Adaptive M suspension, an active M differential, and precise steering ensured that it was equally at home on winding roads or the racetrack.
Production ended in 2020, making way for the G82 M4. Today, the M4 F82 remains sought-after for its blend of turbocharged performance, aggressive design, and the last-of-its-kind analog feel before the next generation’s technological shift.
