Following up on the original M2 CS from 2019, a limited-run, high-performance version of the already potent second-generation M2 G87 has been unveiled in May '25, as part of the unique Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este event on the shores of Lake Como. Designed for drivers who want more edge on the road and real capability on the track, the CS combines increased power, reduced weight, and exclusive styling details inside and out.
Under the hood, the M2 CS features an upgraded 3.0-liter inline-six engine producing 530 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, a 50 hp increase over the standard M2. Paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, the CS rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, and hits a top speed of 302 km/h, thanks to the standard M Driver’s Package. BMW’s engineers have also fine-tuned the throttle response, shift behavior, and traction systems to deliver sharper performance across all driving modes.
Weight savings play a big part in the CS’s formula. The car sheds about 30 kilograms compared to the regular M2, using carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for key components like the roof, hood, center console, and rear diffuser. The result is a car that not only feels faster in a straight line but also more agile in corners.
Visually, the M2 CS stands apart with exclusive aerodynamic elements in exposed carbon fiber, a lightweight boot lid with integrated spoiler, and darkened Shadowline lighting. The signature quad exhaust tips are finished in matte black, with an optional M Performance titanium exhaust system available for those who want a more aggressive soundtrack.
The M2 CS will be available in three standard exterior colors (available at no extra cost) and one Individual color:
- Sapphire Black metallic
- M Brooklyn Grey metallic
- M Portimao Blue metallic
- BMW Individual Velvet Blue metallic
No big surprises as far as the standard colors go. The classic BMW color Velvet Blue is the most surprising having last featured on the F82 M4 Heritage Edition and otherwise exclusively available as an Individual option. For the right price, owners can also pick a color from the full Individual catalog.
Production will be limited, with availability beginning in late summer 2025. Just like the standard M2, the CS will be built at BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, with major markets including Germany, the U.S., and China. Pricing in Germany starts at €115,000.
