Phoenix Yellow was a new paint color introduced together with the E46 M3 where it was also used for marketing purposes (brochures, digital media, ...).
Due to its unique appearance the color didn't turn out to be that popular at the time resulting in it being among the rarer colors for the E46 M3 which obviously makes it all the more wanted by collectors nowadays.
