Atlantic Blue
A13atlantikblau
This car comes with a rather interesting story. The owner who ordered it spent 4 years figuring out the exact spec for his E9X, so long that he missed the order window for the E90 he was originally going for and had to go for an E92.
The color was going to be Atlantis (Blue). When arriving at the BMW Museum in Munich for the European delivery he noticed a US spec car but not in the shade of blue he wanted, it was painted Atlantic Blue Metallic rather than Atlantis Blue and turned out to be his car!
A mistake must've occurred on BMWs side and the owner was given two options.
Repainting the car to the correct color or fitting the special Individual interior to another car with the correct color. Making a new car was no option since the special interior he ordered took 8 weeks to make and production was shutting down in about 6 weeks.
The owner refused both options wanting a factory original car and was thus being left with a car he didn't want and no other compensation being offered by BMW.
Eventually after much back and forth and his story going viral on the internet BMW made things right. As production was being extended by a few weeks the Atlantis car the owner originally ordered was made and his airfare was refunded. It appears however the interior was pulled out of the original car and possibly re-used for the new one, the special blue leather didn't end up happening for some reason.
BMW ended up shipping this M3 to the US, where someone bought it through BMW of Encinitas, California.
