Polar Silver Metallic is one of Porsche’s more elegant historic paint finishes. First offered on the 912 in the 60s but more commonly on 911 in the early 1990s, it was available across several models including the 928, 968, and the 911 (964 and 993 generations), later extending to the Boxster and appearing on the Cayman in 2007.
The color itself is a cool, silvery-white tone with subtle blue and grey undertones that shift depending on lighting. Its icy character is often compared to frozen water or the glistening light of the Arctic Circle.
Polar Silver also gained recognition as one of the two exclusive colors offered on the 1993 “30 Years of 911” Anniversary Edition. This special Carrera 4 model, limited to 911 units and featuring the wide Turbo body, was available only in Polar Silver Metallic or Viola Metallic, cementing Polar Silver’s place in Porsche history.
For the 2023 PTS update the color was reintroduced as 964 Polar Silver Metallic with a different paint code but identical appearance.
