Dark Night Blue Metallic is Porsche’s Paint to Sample interpretation of Audi’s Night Blue Pearl Effect, renamed within the Porsche catalogue to avoid confusion with its own existing Night Blue shades.
As the name suggests, this is a very dark metallic blue that often reads almost black at first glance. In subdued light or overcast conditions, the color takes on a near-ink appearance, giving the car a restrained presence. Only under direct sunlight does the blue reveal itself more clearly, where subtle metallic flake and faint violet undertones shine through.
It’s important to distinguish Dark Night Blue Metallic from Porsche’s serial-production Night Blue Metallic (M5F) and the Paint to Sample Night Blue Metallic (39C), both of which appear noticeably lighter. Dark Night Blue Metallic sits deeper in the spectrum, closer to black than traditional navy, with a cooler tone and a slightly more mysterious character.
And if all of this is starting to sound slightly confusing, you’re not alone. Between the two Night Blue Metallics, Midnight Blue Metallic, Moonlight Blue Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, ... and now Dark Night Blue Metallic, keeping track of what’s what is becoming its own niche hobby. Subtle naming changes can hide very real tonal differences, but even seasoned enthusiasts might need a second look.
This color was added to the PTS catalog in 2023 as part of the bigger update bringing a lot of Audi colors to the Cayenne.
