Mystichrome

Mystichrome is one of Ford's most iconic color-shifting paints, first introduced on the 2004 Mustang SVT Cobra as an evolution of the earlier Mystic paint offered on the 1996 Cobra.

Using special interference pigments, Mystichrome continuously changes color depending on the viewing angle and lighting conditions. While it is most commonly seen transitioning between blue, green, and purple, the paint can also reveal flashes of gold and bronze, making it one of the most dramatic factory color-shifting finishes ever offered on a production car.

Only around 1,000 Mystichrome Cobras were produced, with the high cost of the specialized pigments contributing to its rarity and cult status among Mustang enthusiasts. Beyond the 2004 Cobra, the paint has only made a handful of appearances, including a one-off second-generation Ford GT at a reported cost of around $80,000.

Today, Mystichrome has returned through RTR Vehicles' Extended Color Palette in partnership with Ford, where it is once again available as a premium paint option (priced at $24,995), allowing a new generation of Mustang owners to experience one of the most recognizable color-shifting finishes ever created.
