Gotta Have It Green

Ford Gotta Have It Green is a bright, high-impact metallic lime green paint introduced by Ford in the early 2010s as part of the brand’s push toward bold, expressive colors on its performance models.

The color made its public debut on the 2013 Ford Mustang, where it quickly became one of the most recognizable modern Mustang shades. Unlike earlier Ford greens, Gotta Have It Green is deliberately vivid and extroverted, sitting closer to neon lime than traditional racing green. The fine metallic flake adds sparkle in direct sunlight, while the base tone remains sharply saturated even in overcast conditions.

Visually, the paint carries a strong yellow undertone, giving it an almost fluorescent appearance without being a true solid or highlighter-style finish. This made it especially popular on Mustangs equipped with performance packages, where the color emphasized the car’s aggressive lines and modern design language.

Gotta Have It Green was offered for a limited production window and is no longer available on new Ford models. Today, it is closely associated with 2013–2014 Mustangs and has become a defining color of that era, valued by enthusiasts for its rarity and unmistakable presence.
