Amethyst Metallic

Amethyst Metallic is a deep purple Porsche paint color that first appeared in the early 1990s on models such as the 911 and 928. Inspired by the rich violet tones of the amethyst gemstone, the color blends a dark base with a subtle red undertone, giving it a jewel-like warmth.

Under low light, Amethyst Metallic can appear nearly black, but in direct sunlight it reveals a vivid purple shimmer thanks to its metallic flake. This dual character is a major part of its appeal, offering both understated elegance and dramatic color presence depending on conditions.

The color has historical significance as well: it featured on the “30 Years 911” anniversary model in 1993, a special-edition 964 Carrera 4 limited to 911 units. Today, Amethyst Metallic is available through Porsche’s Paint to Sample (PTS) catalog and has seen a renewed rise in popularity across modern models.
