Based on the Golf R Performance with a few upgrades such as a 13hp power increase to 333 PS total, black accents and R 333 decals along with some upgrades that are also optionally available on the standard Golf R (exhaust, wheels, ...).
All 333 units come in the exclusive Lime Yellow Metallic paint with the regular R being limited to 3 standard paint options (Pure White solid, Lapiz Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl). They will all be individually numbered with a plaque on the dash, a first for any R model.
Due to the limited production Volkswagen marketed the model as a 'potential collector’s item' and even with a price tag of 76,410 euros (the highest ever for a Golf), a lot of people jumped at the opportunity. The model went on sale exclusively in German dealerships last Friday and was sold out after only 8 minutes according to Stefan Voswinkel (product communications).
