The BMW X3 M (chassis code F97) is the high-performance variant of the G01 X3, officially launched in 2019. It marked the first time BMW’s M division developed a full M version of the X3, rather than just an M Performance model.
At its core is the S58 engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six, producing 480 hp in standard form and up to 510 hp in the X3 M Competition. Power is sent to all four wheels via an M-tuned xDrive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission, enabling a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time as low as 3.8 seconds in Competition trim.
The X3 M features extensive M-specific upgrades including a revised chassis, adaptive suspension, upgraded cooling, larger brakes, and a more aggressive body kit. Inside, it gets M sport seats, specific trim, and performance-focused tech.
A facelifted version (LCI) arrived in 2021, introducing sharper styling, the new iDrive 7 system, and mild refinements to handling and comfort.
Blending everyday utility with serious performance, the X3 M redefined what a compact luxury SUV could be.
