The Chevrolet Corvette C8 marks the eighth generation of the iconic Corvette sports car. Launched in 2019, the C8 Corvette is the first-ever rear mid-engine Corvette, a significant departure from the front mid-engine layout used since 1963. This innovative design shift enhances performance, handling, and balance, aligning the C8 with elite supercars on the market.
The Chevrolet Corvette C8 coupe was officially unveiled on July 18, 2019, in Tustin, California, following a global announcement in April 2019. The C8 convertible debuted shortly after in October 2019 at the Kennedy Space Center, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Full-scale production of the Corvette C8 began on February 3, 2020, delivering a new era of American performance and engineering excellence.
Other variants like the more performance oriented Z06 and ZR1 but also an electric version named the E-Ray were later added.
