The BMW X3 G45 is the fourth-generation X3, unveiled in June 2024 and set to begin production in late 2024 as a 2025 model year vehicle. It replaced the outgoing G01 generation and introduces a bold new design direction for BMW’s core mid-size SUV.
Built on an updated version of BMW’s CLAR platform, the G45 focuses on refined proportions, sharper lines, and a more upright, squared-off rear for a stronger visual stance. The interior receives a major overhaul, featuring the BMW Curved Display with iDrive 9, a minimalist layout, and more sustainable material options.
At launch, the G45 is available with a mix of mild-hybrid petrol engines (like the X3 20 xDrive and X3 M50 xDrive) and will not initially include a diesel variant or a fully electric iX3 replacement—BMW has moved the electric iX3 to a separate model line on the upcoming Neue Klasse platform.
The new X3 M50 xDrive now serves as the top-tier performance model (for now), replacing the full-fat X3 M from the previous generation. It features a 3.0-liter inline-six, mild-hybrid tech, and performance-focused design elements including quad exhaust tips.
There are 9 available standard paint options, models produced at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg will additionally be available with BMW Individual paint finishes, including two matte shimmering Frozen options, as well as over 15 BMW Individual special paint finishes. Most standard colors we've already seen on other models except for Dune Grey which was newly introduced with this car. For the M50 Frozen Pure Grey and Frozen Deep Grey are added to the standard range while dropping Mineral White and Skyscraper Grey.
