The G90 M5 is the latest generation of the German super-saloon revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024. For the first time since the E60 generation it's available again as a Touring, this also marks the first time an M5 Touring will be available for the North American market to compete with other station wagons in this segment.

Production started in July 2024 at BMW’s Dingolfing plant, with a global launch planned for November 2024, both for the sedan and Touring.

This M5 shares its powertrain with BMW's luxury SUV the XM, a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 with additional electric motors, putting out 727 PS / 717 hp (535 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb ft) of peak torque. This sure is a respectable figure but due to the added hybrid system the weight of the car is significantly increased over the previous generation (F90) with around 500kg. This made the car heavily criticised at launch and perhaps rightly so as it is the first time in the M5's history that the power to weight ratio has gone down compared to the previous model. Unfortunately BMW didn't really have any other choice as making it a plug-in hybrid was the only way to keep the V8 engine with the very strict emission regulations.

As far as the available paint options go there are no surprises on the M5 with the palette largely following that of their other current models.
